GRIEF during COVID

I want to know if you can sit with pain mine or your own without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.

It is okay to be grieving right now!

Many have lost a loved one in the last year – a parent, grandparent, partner, child, neighbor, friend – to the virus. & if you have not lost someone directly, we, as a nation, have lost 450,000 Americans to the virus. The pain is rippling out, & it is okay to be grieving right now!

These 450,000 people are not alone in their deaths from the virus. We have lost numerous more to loneliness & isolation. It is okay to be grieving right now!

Over the last year, we have lost friendships, relationships, passions & hobbies, jobs, & more. Horrifying news constantly sweeps the nation, leaving many in pain. In response, our entire way of life is shifting & constantly changing. & it’s okay to be grieving right now!

For me, it helps to sit with it, reflect on it, accept it. That said, processes look different for everyone & people wear pain differently. If you have trouble sitting with the pain & sadness you feel, I encourage you to find someone to sit with you. Ask them to pull up a chair & look towards light & hope as our world flows forward. Know the sun will rise again.

The worst thing in the world can happen, but the next day the sun will come up. And you will eat your toast. And you will drink your tea.”
